Over the Silk Road’s centuries of history, humanity faced horrors from plague to cholera. Still, the trade route — and spirit of discovery — continued. The stories about the road in the latest Travel issue of T, The Times’s style magazine, were in the works long before the pandemic — but they still hold lessons for the way forward.
